I hate staring at that screen when you submit a request to a website that tells you "hold on, we're fulfilling your request!" It always seems so superfluous to me, but after reading chapter 3, I can recall when I haven't had that screen and how aggravating it is to not know what's happenning behind the scenes. I guess I'd rather have just be impatient rather than impatient and aggravated.
I love the word "Feedforward," and I love the idea of Feedforward. I've noticed in the past few years seeing a lot of pop up boxes reading, "if you click this link, you will be diverted away from our parent site," and while that might be a lawyer-related concern more than user, it functions beautifully for both ends.

I agree that it is nice to know what is "going on behind the scenes." I would much rather have the screen that says they are fulfilling my request than just the spinning color wheel or the hour glass. You never know if it is really working or if it will ever finish.
This is along the lines of fulfilling your request" I hate when I am downloading a program and it says 100% complete and it still takes 5 extra minutes to get transfered to your computer. It its at 100% complete I expect it to be finished!
