I couldn't agree with Saffer more about beginning a project with a graph or other research model. Brainstorming is often the hardest and most crucial part of any project and can help in the organizational process. This is especially critical when attempting a large or complicated project. Even writers sometimes use Saffer's chart methods of brainstorming, especially the spider format. The main subject begins in the center and branches outward into separate paragraphs from the center. Such is similar when brainstorming for multimedia design.
